Shanghai - Lvjiazui's 'Boardwalk'
Lens: Tamron 17-50/2.8 Camera: K7 Photo Location: Shanghai
Posted By: Frogfish, 01-01-2011, 02:12 PM

I decided it was about time I took some more street shots - so these were shot on the Lvjiazui 'Boardwalk' in Shanghai on New Year's Day :

Visitors to Shanghai from the countryside. Actually their son was taking their photo - the smiles are their reaction to me !

Checking his shot.

One of the tourist set-scenes - they have a whole rack of clothes to choose from !

Rose selling girls press their luck.

Want a close up view, across the river, of The Bund ?

They were all set up for one of their friends to take their photo and all - but one - were highly amused when I lined up a shot from behind her !

Posing for her father - we compared shots afterwards.

More to come tomorrow !

Fantastic light! 4th is my fav. I'd try to crop the little girl at the end on the left side to get rid of the stone there.

Born and raised in Shanghai, I may say this might not be what the actual Shanghai is...

Thanks Douglas. Yes. the day was cold (around 0C) but not a cloud in the sky, bright & crisp. I thought of that crop but it then leaves no space in front of her and is very narrow.

Henry - actually having lived in Shanghai for the past 15 years I can say these are very typical shots that can be found in any location where people (both Shanghainese and tourists) go to enjoy the city (views, parks, markets, tourist attractions etc.). However in a city of over 20 million people there is a plethora of 'typical' shots too !

Thank you Bob !

I can't image what it must be to live in a city that size. Thanks for sharing this group of wonderful photos.

Thank you Susan.

Ha ha .. 20M+ and growing at 1M per year .. or so they say ! I've been here for the last 15 years and love it. Nothing ever stands still, the city changes so much year to year and life is of course spent at 100 mph. I do like holidays when the pace drops and we can actually relax without phone calls and emails every 5 mins !
