Five Images Combined
Posted By: Jimbo, 01-02-2011, 05:46 PM

Rarely do we get morning like this in my area where frost remains on the trees through mid morning. I took five vertical shots and stitched them in Photo Shop Elements. Other then a small amount of sharping, no other PP was done. JIM

PS: Have over a 100 to process form this morning still!!

PS... These were all shot at 50mm giving me a certain frame. There is no way to capture the same image with a different lens. JIM

That's a great question and in a way you are right. I have a couple of lenses that are wide enouth to cover this range. I read a few months ago about making one image look like a MF image by combining 4-6 imagrs vertically. This image was 16 mg's combined which means I can print just about any size. For me its about trying new ways to produce a image. I will print this one and see if my approach was correct. JIM
Interesting. Thank you for the explanation and something else for me to research.

Beautiful shot, buddy - and I appreciate the discussion and now understand the value of doing this sort of thing rather than simply using a wider lens.

Jer, shooting the five image vertically gives a whole different look then taking the shot with one lens. First, I am not sure I could pull off the same image with just one lens. I would have to five up something. [Focal length or how much I could get into the foreground and sky] This is like using a MF camera say a 4x6 and what the person would see and shoot from his or her equipment. Give it a try and see if you can pull it off with just a lens change. Not sure it would be work or at least look the same. All the five images were shot at 50mm. JIM
