River crossing of the Degibo River on 30 Dec. 2010:
The end of the 2010 year has seen some major flooding across the State of Queensland in North-Eastern Australia. The floods follow nearly 3 months of wet weather at the end of 2010. In December 2010 alone, the city of Brisbane received 480 mm of rainfall, and many places received more than 6 times the expected average December rainfall. The extent and magnitude of the floods have been unprecendeted in many places, setting new water level records in some places. The duration of the floods are also linked with the very flat topography of the State, limiting the catchment runoff and water drainage.
The above flooded river crossing was a very familiar sight across the State of Queensland at the end of December 2010 when the State was disrupted by some much flooding.
