Unlike diletantes (like myself) that sail the bay on a Monday with beer in hand, some folks have to work. Here are a couple of shots of a commercial fisherman heading for the dock (nets up). Both were taken with K10D and DA 50-200 @ 150; ISO 100. Sometimes these boats have a literal cloud of gulls and pelicans surrounding them - I missed that here, but it gives you the idea.

Nice shots jer - and that is 'working' for a living for sure. I had a cousin who use to work on a scallop boat and as a young lad I went out on the Bay of Fundy with 'me uncle' in a 14 ft row boat to hand-line some cod , mackerel ,whatever we could get - the first 30 minutes was fun the next 10 hours not so much

i did some commercial fishing too.
i was on a really hard working boat...20 hrs a day for four months. thats quite hard

...its why i fell in love with photography though..

but some boats dont work as hard. and when we were docked up to a tender sometimes we would find boats that almost had no fish and a boat full of pizza, porno and beer...go figure
