Palm Springs Sunset
Camera: K-x Photo Location: Palm Springs, CA
Posted By: Bob Harris, 01-17-2011, 11:11 PM

We moved from the mountains to Palm Springs and we were greeted by this sunset, temp today 84, sunny, clear, 15% humidity. Life is good on the road, the hummingbirds are happy too. I have seen so many cold snow photos lately, I thought I might give some of you some hope that spring will be here soon.

I miss the warmth ! Nice to see you extricated yourself after being snowbound !

Is that your bird feeder ? If so I'm amazed that so many hummingbirds found it so easily !

I have put up 5 bird-feeders in the garden here, with all sorts of bird goodies in them, and haven't seen one bird use them in two weeks since installing. The birds have no idea what they are since no-body puts up bird feeders in China (the ones I bought were all samples for export !

Man, you know how to live - we're only gonna hit the upper '60's today.

Nice sunset, Bob.

Lovely shots Bob. Got to love the hummers. I'm guessing there is more than one feeder hanging so they don't get territorial?

Ahhh Bob, as much as I love winter, those shots have me living vicariously through you! The sunset is beautiful... I don't think I have seen one in quite that hue before, and the palm tree's leves are so interesting silhouetted against the sky.

What a riot the hummerbird shot is... wow, bull of colour and activity. I have also never seen more than one hummingbird feeding at a time... they always seem to fighting each other off the feeder.

Thanks for the warm smile today!

thanks to all for the comments, a lot of people have feeders here and the birds do not migrate, they stay in the area, temps at night rarely reaches the 30's. I think most are retired just as most of the residents are and just bask in the sun. We get beautiful sunsets, but I think the different colors are from the pollution that is being blown in from the Los Angeles area. The elevation is about 50 feet above sea level and smog etc. is sucked into the valley here at times. Sparkle, yes you are correct. The bird photo is from a previous trip, I will post new bird photo later. Here are a couple of hummer photos from CO that I took in July, the birds there are migrating and very aggressive. Jer, are temps are Texas like, but no humidity here.
