The Shores of Lake Superior
Lens: smc Pentax DA 18-55mm AL WR Camera: K20D
Posted By: johnny9fingers, 01-22-2011, 09:42 PM

Finally was able to take my newly acquired K20D out. The temps soared up to almost zero so the cold snap is over
These were taken along Lake Superior in the Duluth MN area...

# 3 is a lovely shot - I like it a lot. I think I like #5 too but it really needs straightening .... if Lake Superior was tilted at that angle I think it would have emptied by now.

Good crisp series.
A couple of these need straightening.
Otherwise, nice textures rendered here.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comments, and I'm glad you enjoyed them. Yes, "Splash" would be an obvious candidate for straightening but I shot it from the hip and and couldn't bring myself to change it. Thursday night the temps in the area ranged between 27 to 43 below zero, so minus 4 felt pretty good today.
And yes, the Packers - Bears game will be a good old fashion black & blue battle, but I bleed Green and Gold so it's "Go Pack Go"........

Here are a couple more from today. The way the trees were leaning, and the bends in the trunks, made me think of dancers.....

Great series - I'm a big fan of numbers 3 and 4 in your first posting.

Well done.

Brings back some very chilly memories of my time in NW Ontario.

Folks who haven't lived in this part of the world have no idea what cold really is.

You really nailed what cold looks like! Great photos...the waves crashing and iced rocks do it for me! ...although I really like the first too, the way the rail leads to the industrial scene on lakes edge. very nice series...

I like 2, 3, and 4 the best but, as tess said, you captured cold. Temps soaring to almost zero and the cold snap is over? Come on down and we will take you in until the thaw sets in.
