Mother of the Sea...[4 IMG]
Posted By: Duplo, 10-08-2007, 07:12 PM

Is the name of a recently reveal sculpture located in the water just outside the colonial harbour in Nuuk.

It has been set in such a way that it will be hidden at high tides and only wisible at low tides.

I got pretty wet shooting this as the tides rose on the cliffs i was standing on.

anyway here goes:

Ohh captured this one too of a very greenlandic house, used in a previous photo of mine:

And why not a few shots of the 3 girls that were kind enough to leave the warm living room and walk with me

Thanks for looking, comments and critics are as always most welcome

Glad to see these images. The first one is great. The second one is so colourful i can dream in black-and-white now (met my color needs for three days), the third one is nice because it shows I'm not the only one who forgets the feet!

THank you Syb.

Not sure if that comment on the second photo was meant as a compliment though

About the third photo, well it was a matter of no feets or me tumbling into the water
photo 4 is a longer lens and me in a different position.
The ghosting from the flash was an add on bonus I guess

Beautiful!

A beautiful country and excellent photos - as usual.

In a previous thread you mentioned that the colours of the homes had something to do with the companies that the occupants worked for? Can you give more details, please?

A very nice shot. I like how the water is nice and silky while the statue is sharp. Great sunset. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Tom.

I do not know the full story yet, I have been trying to compile it.
Historically the colour of the house reflected where people worked.
i.e.
Yellow = hospital or health care
Red = Government and education
Light Blue = Energy supply
Dark Blue = transportation

Much of it still applies, as the hospitals are still yellow and the Home rule goverment building is red. I find it kind of odd, but fun.

It does however not apply to private homes as a genereal rule any more, but in the past where all homes were company owned it did.
