Mrs. Cash's Other Son, Michael
Posted By: Mike Cash, 10-09-2007, 06:34 AM

Self-portrait done in my truck using tripod, self-timer, and two off-camera flashes. It took me a half hour and about a dozen experiments before I got a couple of shots I felt I could work with.

S-M-C Takumar 28/3.5

Vivitar 2000 on overhead shelf, aimed camera right and bounced off a sheet of white paper hanging from the ceiling.

Vivitar 2500 at 1/16 power wedged in the corner of the door frame to my right, aimed upward and diffused through 2mm of polyethylene packing foam

Well, he's certainly better looking than mike. ;-) Nice catch.

I gotta start playing with that strobist stuff. I got the GI triggers about a month ago but I haven't done anything with them other than confirm that they work.

Nice shot Mike. You've balanced the light nicely. You might consider burning in the light area above your left eye (maybe 20-30%) to de-emphasize the shadow from the bridge of your nose.

I think it's a great shot! Self portraits are very hard to do, and I think this one has a great mood to it. Love the B&W conversion.

I think you got it just right Mike. Nice shot. I have not even tried to do a self portrait yet, to intimidating for me!
