The Most Minor of Distinctions
Lens: Tamron 17-50/2.8 Camera: Pentax K-5 Photo Location: Kiryu, Japan ISO: 1600 Shutter Speed: 1/200s Aperture: F5.6

Thanks to a comment left for me I learned that one of the photos I took yesterday has achieved that most minor of distinctions, inclusion in Flickr Explore. Since I long ago gave up wasting my time with submissions to PPG I suppose this is as good as its ever going to get for me so I can't afford to pass up the opportunity to share my subdued elation with my friends here at Pentax Forums.

Those who have seen some of my dance photos may recognize this young lady (14) from them. She is my favorite subject as so far it has proven impossible to take a genuinely bad photo of her, despite probably a couple thousand frames shot of her over the last three years.

This was taken at the teacher's place prior to heading out to dance for some nice old ladies at an assisted living group home. She was kneeling by the tape player listening to one of her numbers and going over the moves in her head, so she was paying no attention to me. The light is strong sunshine coming in through a window with the curtains open and the black background is nothing more than a flat-screen television.I was seated about three feet away.

I wish I could lie to you and tell you I was smart enough and talented enough to set this up on purpose, but I'm not.

Well done Mike - with a Tamron but still a 'divine' ethereal lighting - well deserved.

If you want to test the thickness of your photographer's skin now enter it in the Special Gallery on this forum and see what the judges here think of it- just to see. :-)

Mike, that is a wonderful image and it matters not how it was achieved. Thanks for posting it.
