From a recent visit to the Queen Mary.

It is a hotel, among other things.

Technically, this is the Russian Scorpion submarine right next to the QM.

A loud group.

Nice series that brings back many memories. We spent our 25th anniversary on the Queen, beautiful wood throughout, wonderful rooms and a great bar to relax in. Oh, and the food was wonderful, a little expensive, and of course we have our own "ghost story" staying there 3 nights. thanks for the view. Bob

Thanks for the nice comments, guys. For those who don't know the Queen Mary, it's the big one in the background:

A bit bigger than my boat - with a better stocked bar, I'm betting.

A fascinating series - the place and the people. Well done.

I find these types of photos so interesting... I just get lost in the detail, people's facial expressions, the way they are standing, walking, sitting... I think I see personality and find myself making up narratives. Great photos. I also enjoy the compositions very much, and the ship pics are incredible.

You managed to capture her size and the feel of the boat very well. Nicely done.

Wonderful! I had a summer job on the water in NYC back when she was still in service and it was always a thrill to see her come into the harbor. I particularly recall her horn: the loudest & lowest by far of any of the liners--you could probably hear/feel it in Poughkeepsie.

Since there seems to be some interest, I'm sharing some other shots from other visits.

Left-overs from WWII troop transporting.

Main dining room.
