Portrait of my girlfriend
Lens: D-FA 100mm Macro WR Camera: Pentax K-5 Photo Location: Leiria - Portugal ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/125s Aperture: F2.8
Posted By: G-Diesel, 02-14-2011, 06:53 AM

This was part of some test shots I took of my girlfriend with my brand new D-FA 100mm Macro WR and I'd say this is by far the sharpest and most wonderful lens I've ever touched. (I only shoot DSLRs since last year though, lol).

She is, but while my keeper ratio of the photos I take from her is around 9 in each 10, her keeper ratio is about 1 in each 100. Women are a lot pickier than men I suppose...

Thanks! Just came back from a test under rainy weather and it behaved like heaven with the K-5. It is so good it makes me crave for a DA35 limited because of the focal length. Or maybe a DA 55...LBA is killing me!

While I'm not normally a fan of angled shots I do find this one compelling. The lighting is good, the b/w treatment has the right amount of contrast, and the crop is flattering. The subject is pleasant to look at also.

A possible suggestion for next time is to add a tiny bit more DOF to the image so that both eyes are in focus.

Great shot!

Classic look, classic shot, classic processing.
Apart from the aforementioned DoF issue, it's just about perfect. And a beautiful subject, also.
