Waiting for the Sun to Shine
Posted By: Mike Cash, 10-15-2007, 03:51 PM

My laundry, put out at night in anticipation of the sun's appearance the next morning (it showed up right on schedule).

SMC-A 50/2

Focus thanks to a white LED mini-light held between the ring and little fingers of my right hand.

Off-camera flash on a stand to camera left

And a considerable amount of GIMP tomfoolery

Nice, I like it, good textures and shadows.
You hang your washing out on hangers? You're keen.

My wife hangs my washing out on hangers. I just document it.

The hangers are all actually part of a single unit that has about 10 hangers mounted beneath a plastic frame, which in turn is suspended by chains from a hook that goes over a laundry pole.

For some reason, there are no clothes lines here; horizontal poles are used instead of lines. What is really weird is the method of drying trousers.....the pole is run through one leg and the other is left to dangle. A tremendous waste of very limited drying space, so most younger people suspend them from clothes pins on space-saving drying racks similar to the one pictures here, but round or rectangular with multiple clothes pins suspended from them.

I really like the textures and contrast in this shot. Nice job. I need to work on my proficiency with the GIMP. It's a nice piece of software, especially for the price.
