Exuberant Plunge
Posted By: BlueBubbleBoy, 02-17-2011, 12:22 PM

I work with a local Boy Scout troop and last summer I spent a week with them at their summer camp. I have to say other that it being a typical, hot, muggy summer week in Alabama, it was a lot of fun. One of the things that the boys who were taking the swimming merit badge had to do was jump feet first in the water with long pants and a button up shirt on. They then had to remove the shirt and long pants and use them as a flotation device. It was pretty funny to watch actually. Here's a photo I took of one of our scouts jumping in to start his test. He looks like he can't wait to get started.

I know I've got some blown highlights in the water, the sun was really bright and it was the middle of the afternoon, but I really liked his expression. Shot @ 120mm, but pretty heavily cropped.

Don't worry about the highlights! A totally negligible problem for a shot like this. You got the moment.

Thank you Dave. It was fun taking photos out there of them in action, but I think more fun to get my turn to jump in the water and escape the heat for a little bit.
