Sunset silhouette

I would really like your thoughts on this one. The town lies in sort of a bowl between some mountains, and we never actually get those nice, longish, colorful sunsets. If the sun sets behind the mountain it gets dark very quickly...

I like it alot, Christo - it's a bit surreal yet dramatic. The sun is so bright, it made me think of an explosion - an interesting effect, in my view.

Thanks Jer, after I took this shot, I turned around, walked back about 10 meters to get another angle, checked my settings, and when I looked up the sun was gone!

The composition is nice. I wish the blacks were a little blacker though. Also the birds tend to distract me. The sunbeams are great. I am curious what it would look like in color.

I did not notice the birds, so I thought those could be big trees, or small plants. Very nice.

Thanks SpecialK, that is agave flower stems, and about 4 meters high. The birds are just settling in for the night, you can see some already settled and others coming in.
Thanks paully

Thanks Mike, I am still stuggling a bit with PP, it will hopefully improve.

When I took the shot, I didn't actually notice them, only focused on the sun. When I opened it to PP a bit I grabbed my camera ran outside to do a dust alert, wondering where all the dust came from, because I was certain it was clean before I took the shot. You are sharp
Here is the original, just resized, no PP

This is one of those never to be repeated shots, no matter how hard you try! Very nice, love the creativity and perspective. I actually like a lot about the original including the blue in the sky and the rainbow ray. But before I saw this one I was already in awe of the first. Great work!
