Why the ND filter on a sunny day? I wanted to keep an option to work with a large aperture and on some shots with some water activity I wanted to keep a sense of motion in an otherwise pretty static picture.

I used the Polaroid variable ND in anger for the first time and it worked out pretty OK, letting me fine tune my exposure and I think I do see a bit of polarizing effect from it as well (no surprise as this is, in essence, a polarizer "sandwich").

The filter is out there on fleebay and quite reasonable in price though I'm not quite sure the more expensive ones wouldn't offer more quality. I find the thread on this one quite rough and it is a single thread so it takes some trying to get it on the lens straight.
