Saint George, Dragon Slayer
Posted By: Bob Harris, 02-23-2011, 03:11 PM

This statue is located in Crested Butte, Colorado and was created by Sean Guerrero, who resided in the area and now lives in the Bordeaux region of France. The entire piece of art is built out of old auto bumpers and parts of the 1930's and 40's, and weighs 6,000 pounds. The dragon has a wingspan of 23 feet. The struggle of St. George represents Christianity overcoming Pagan rituals during the Roman Empire rule.

That is so cool Bob - while I don't imagine there was too much Roman Rule in Colorado (ha!) - that is an amazing sculpture.

Bob, cool shots of fascinating sculpture. Your pics remind me of this character, which inhabits the marina next to ours (I think I posted this shot earlier).

Bob, nice series of shots as always. They are so cool. Like them all.
Jer, I remember that bird. An eagle isn't it?

Thanks Dave, If I had only kept all those old car parts, I may have been able to do something like this.

Neat shots Bob, you did a good job of capturing them. Someone worked very hard. Otis wanted you to know that they didn't scare him one iota.......he just likes viewing from a distance...

Well I am sure with the killer cat around, he doesn't scare easily and is very brave and of course smart.

I got to thinking what you said and did some destructive editing and changes. Is this too much, bad or what does anyone think of the original versus the new image I came up with?

Very interesting scenes here Bob. I'm glad you were able to capture the moment of battle and not get burned in the process!
I like the original photo best because it's more sharp and crisp, but I really do like the idea of removing all the modern objects as you've done in the second. Gives this shot a really cool feel to it. I'm no good at the cloning out stuff though, so I couldn't tell you how to make it better.

thanks Barry, I usually don't mess with cloning much either, but I was sort of bored and thought I would give it a shot. Bob
