A Witch's Hand
Lens: DA 55-300 Camera: K20D Photo Location: The Dead Forest ISO: 400
Posted By: Sailor, 02-25-2011, 06:28 PM

A couple of stark, winter shots I took of a dead tree, this afternoon. The only problem: it didn't feel stark or like winter with a cloudless sky and a temp of 82F (about 28C). I love February in Texas (don't ask me about August).

Both of those work well in their own way. Nice.

I like the framing and nice choice of BW - sorry you have been banned from using the word 'winter' from now on (Unless a mjaor ice or snow strom hits ) Now Summer / Spring / Fall are all still acceptable.

Hey, thanks, buddy - I'll try to think of a new word for the time between Fall (which ended about Dec 31) and Spring (which actually seems to already have sprung).

Of the two I prefer the first and it needed to be B&W. Well done Jer. JIM

I love these and especially the textures in the second one. I agree with Jim on the choice of B&W. Well done.

I like 'em both. To me it seems like the hand is reaching onto something in the second shot.

Thanks, Susan. In my younger days, I focused (NPI) on B&W photographs, often of stark, simple subjects. In an effort to avoid the staleness I've felt creeping up on my recent shooting, I've vowed to do more of this sort of thing.

Thanks much. Now that you mention it, the "hand" does appear to be beginning to clutch!
