Gold Coast Indy. 2007.
Posted By: Mallee Boy, 10-18-2007, 05:05 PM

A weekend of high octaine frivolity both on and off the track. For those that do not know Australia's Gold Coast, it is probably likened to beach front Miami or Waikiki, lots of high rise buidlings.
The race is through the streets and the crowd is both on the ground and in the air on the balconies of the high rise buildings that line the track.

Here are a few images from Thursday, only the first day.....the temperature rises steadily each day.
All shot with DS & Tamron 70-300. Raw. PP in lightroom.
Cheers.
PS: all taken from the 22nd floor.

Nice shots! I hope you are behaving!
The lady on the balcony in the 4th shot seems to be enjoying the sun.

If this is only day one I expect a few more shots before you leave.

Awesome, wish I were there for it.

Surfer's has always been one of my favorite CART/CCWS tracks.

That was a corporate day Jeff, I'm not going back for anymore, unless you can get up high or in a stand you really do not see much....of the car racing....which would be my only reason for going. ;-)
Ah yes, a lot of people were working on their tans.

Umm... interesting and eclectic set of photos. The last one kind of looks like a bunch of Hotwheels toy cars.

The last ones are called Legends (may be called something different now, but that's what they used to be). They are a fibreglass 1/2 scale body on a tube-chassis powered by a 4-cylinder motor. Basically you can buy one of these for $xxxx and, provided you can drive, be 100% competetive due to parity rules. Body styles vary, but they all go the same speed.

Called "Aussie Racing Cars" now. The noise that the v8s and the champ cars make is cool and all, but the whine from the engines in those things is just addictively awesome
