These shots were taken from a tripod; this enabled 1/2 sec. exposure on the first shot, and 2 seconds exposure on the second. Thus, it was easy to use ISO 100. I used the manual setting and manual focus to control all aspects of the shots. With the K-5's dynamic range, I really looked forward to doing these shots, and was delighted with the outcome. My only wish was that I would have liked to have had a lensbaby to control the keystone effect on the buildings.
In actuality, I took a series of about 25 pictures, all from the same viewpoint, about a minute or so apart, waiting for no car traffic on the street. These two stood out as being most satisfactory. I wanted to achieve a sense of solitude and kinship with the past; cars in the picture were not wanted. The second picture had an enhanced "starburst" effect on the lights; this feature is available on the K-5.
