Main street in Bisbee, Arizona
Lens: Pentax 18-55WR @ 18mm Camera: Pentax K-5 Photo Location: Bisbee, Arizona ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/2s Aperture: F8

These shots were taken at dusk in the old mining town of Bisbee, Arizona on the southern border with Mexico. All the buildings you see in these photos are over a century old. Ghost sightings are plentiful in Bisbee.

Hope you like 'em.

Beautiful shots. There is a mystery writer (JJ Jance) that bases one of her characters in Bisbee. It was nice to see it.

While in Bisbee, we stayed in the J.A. Jance room at the Copper Queen Hotel. One of the nicer rooms in the hotel. Janice A. Jance is a fine writer - I'm reading "Fire and Ice" now.

Here's a shot of the Copper Queen Hotel - on the left in this picture, taken with a Pentax K200D a couple of years ago at Christmastime.

These shots were taken from a tripod; this enabled 1/2 sec. exposure on the first shot, and 2 seconds exposure on the second. Thus, it was easy to use ISO 100. I used the manual setting and manual focus to control all aspects of the shots. With the K-5's dynamic range, I really looked forward to doing these shots, and was delighted with the outcome. My only wish was that I would have liked to have had a lensbaby to control the keystone effect on the buildings.

In actuality, I took a series of about 25 pictures, all from the same viewpoint, about a minute or so apart, waiting for no car traffic on the street. These two stood out as being most satisfactory. I wanted to achieve a sense of solitude and kinship with the past; cars in the picture were not wanted. The second picture had an enhanced "starburst" effect on the lights; this feature is available on the K-5.

Both are very nice images and you are right, car traffic would not have fitted in.

Wow, these are engaging pictures - all three. I think I even spotted one of those ghosts.
