Autumn Fire..... [5 IMG]
Posted By: Duplo, 10-18-2007, 05:08 PM

Well set aside all the auroras, autumn in Greenland has one other thing that I truly love.
The autumn sky
As the sun does not rise as high on the sky as it does normally we do have a good hour close to sunset where the low positioning of the sun sets nature on fire.

Here is 5 photos from a recent outing i this amazing evening light.

Sermitsiak (K10D -FA43ltd):

Sermitsiak and a lonely iceflake (K10D - A24):

The semetery (K10D - DA14):

The stairway to Heaven? (K10D - DA14):

The local nature reasearch Institute:

Thanks for looking.

Comments and critics are as always welcome.

ahh... to live in such beautiful country... inspiring shots! I love the first and second shots. I certainly don't see iceburgs floating by everyday. And, the graveyard is lovely and somber. You've caught moments with exquisite light. Dig it!

Thank you Hamid.
It is a beautiful Country indeed.
And this time I caught the light in the right moment.. now I just need to work a little on composition to make it just right.

You should claim all your photo gear as a tax deduction for services to the Greenland tourism industry, Thomas. More and more I'd like to visit there (with my K10D of course). The light sure is doing nice things.

My favourite FWIW is no. 3, of the cemetary. That path disappearing down to the sea past all those crosses really said something to me.

Trying to capture both the composition and light correctly is certainly difficult. You have done a masterful job on both. The reds in the northern climates during the fall are amazing. I know I'm bias but it seems to me the Pentax does an outstanding job of doing this. If you haven't considered submitting some of your images to the Pentax gallery you should.

Thanks for posting.

Ahhhh yes, the first two are beautiful shots. I like the light but, what cought my eye and made it even more beautiful, is the water on the rocks' edge. It makes them look more like paintings.

Thanks for showing these Thomas.

Thank you Steve,
I am hopefully well in the process of doing a little more than that.
Thanks for liking that... some day I will get the perfect photo from that place, but this one comes resonably close I think.

Thank you Ken.
It is one of those things that will improve photo by photo I think.. one of the wonders of this hobby is that there is always something new to learn.

I have 31 photos in the PPG so far, but has not been submitting too many photos lately.

Thanks for looking JC and complimenting. I appreciate both.
I simply love long exposures and moving water... it is something I can never get enough of.

Thank you RP.
If I have just one photo speaking to someone, then I am a very happy guy.
