Nuthatch -through glass...

Nuthatch -through glass... · 01:43 PM

Just curious-

I took this shot through my livingroom window (FA*300 with 1.4TC).

Can you tell this was shot through a thermopane (2 sheets of glass/argon gas filled) window? Is it a little soft?

A touch soft but not to bad. Enlarging it will tell more.

I looks like you retained some great detail in the feathers. I wouldn't have guessed it was through a window. The eye seems a bit on the soft side, but not enough to worry about.

I love photographing these guys. They're pretty tame compared to other birds (including the red-breasted variety) and they seem to have a lot of personality.

Tom,
Nice shot, especially through a window no less. Were you using the Tamron 1.4X?
I can only imagine how sharp this would be without the window.

It is sharp for sure. When I used Tamron 1.4X, the images get so much softer with washed out colour (apparently it only happened to me).

This bird looks great, I would be happy with that.
