Light Leaks

So we buy high resolving cameras and lenses...only to process for less resolution? My friends often think digital cameras are well...too digital. And I guess there are many out there who prefer the "vintage" look of film with light leaks and all. I realize it's not everyone's cup of tea, this being the digital age and all, but here are my first attempts after watching a couple videos on youtube about the subject.

Well, it was a combination of Lightroom and Photoshop. I used LR to make the original image appear more like a vintage photo by following the tutorial below and adjusting until it came out the way I liked:

Then I took the image and added the light leaks by using PS. Here's the video tutorial:

Have fun!

My K-r has slight front focusing in Tungsten, but an AF tune corrects the issue (-3 i think?). These photos were originally taken in a dimly lit room. There is an off-camera strobe about 8 feet high pointed 45 degrees down to camera left. WB was set to flash. I might post the original picture later for comparison, as it is very vibrant and saturated. Very "digital" i guess

Love the effect and LOVE the second shot.

As I take more and more people shots I've come to realize that stylistic choices (which is what you are showing here) and even technical errors (I have many of these myself) are always secondary to an image when the image captures an emotion well.

#2 is sizzling on style and emotion. Very well done!
