Hungry Mouths
Lens: Kiron 105 Macro 2.8 Camera: K20D Photo Location: Texas ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/125s Aperture: F11

They finally bloomed on the 2nd day of March! These are among the first signs of Spring here, and I look for them every year about this time.

Little Hungry Mouths reaching up for sunshine! There is plenty here today at 74F, blue skies, and no wind.......Perfection!

Hungry Mouths, this entire bloom would fit on a dime, easily....

These white blooms are intoxicating with a rich aroma......

He looks pretty ragged, must have been a tough winter for him too...

Better move along....birds see you too!

Not much larger than a pin head.....Say goodbye!

Best Regards & best wishes for weather like this to all my friends here very soon!

Thank you Rupert, I needed this.
It's -20ºC outside and it just started to snow, so something Spring like is really welcome. Pretty good photos BTW.

Thanks Bob, he was a pretty rough looking butterfly, he had a hungry look in his eye too! LOL!

Heinrich, so sorry to hear about your weather, just a few short weeks ago we were in blizzard conditions here and I hated every second of it. Here is hoping for an early Spring for you and lots of better looking butterflies than we have here!

Best Regards!

Good stuff Rupert.
#2 is a good one.
The others are a little blurry, and the sharpening couldn't fix that.

Serious Macro shooting requires some patience Ash....I was short of it yesterday! Maybe I was just so excited to see the little mouths once again....signaling that Spring is very near!

Thanks Scott.....from eye level these little blooms are near invisible. A good Macro lens sure does let you explore the world you might otherwise miss. I love Macro, and need to do more of it. Next to bloom in my yard will be the wild onions...also very small blooms, but a little larger than the "Hungry Mouths".
Best Regards!

Excellent series of shots, love the sharpness and colour and you got the lighting just right. Well done.
