Three more oldies
Posted By: Heinrich Lohmann, 03-02-2011, 11:59 AM

Montreal, 1955
This drinking water fountain was nothing but a faucet turned upside down and it did not matter how slowly one tried to open it, one got a really wet face. This gentleman knew this but his companion obviously did not. Of course I did miss the shot but this was before rapid advance levers were invented.

The Sun Life Building was then the highest building in Montreal

This one is from the Spring of 1956, a few month later we got married and still are.

Wow -Wonderful shots.

It just proves my point that street shots get better with age.

Scottnorwo is right ... "A look into a different world"

The street shots of today will be that different world one day

Thank you Deimos, oh he knew all right. I remember standing there on a Sunday afternoon watching this fountain and the fun. Should have taking more pictures but film was expensive....

Take care

Thank you Jer and yes I still think that I did. I should start scanning more of the old images before they do fade away.

Take care

Thank you dave for the kind words. The times were most certainly "simpler" , happier? I don't know, happiness is created within yourself, we have had some of our happiest times when we were the poorest.....

Take care,

Timeless Heinrich. That first shot sure tells a story doesn't it. Your wife was lovely back then and I imagine she still is today. Lucky man.

Very nice set, and timeless. Feels soothing and refreshing to se these old pictures as a contrast to the ultra crisp and vibrant modern images.

Thank you, I do appreciate it. I should get of my butt and start scanning more of them, I do have over 6000 slides sorted in hanging files dating back to 1952.
