Yellow Saddlebags (Bees and Bugs follow up)
Posted By: HogRider, 12-10-2006, 08:34 PM

Hello again. This is the follow up to the original Bees and Bugs thread. I took those only a few days later with the same lens, although a completely different light situation. The little flowers have already opened and the Bees are finally getting the pollen out. The color cast looks a little different between them, because I was trying out different RAW converters and after all was set and done I was just too lazy to try give them all the color temperature and look.

Yellow Saddlebags...

A Closer look. Don't know if I am really happy with this one here. The left wing covering part of the body makes it appear out of focus, but I liked the way how the fine pollen on the hair and the right wing came out...

Although not totally and sharp I thought I post it, because it has the flying bee in the background and there is also that ant which seems to be watching the whole situation.

Thanks in advance for any critique and comments.

Like the color in 1, 4 & 5. Like the capture in all of them but #5 is my favorite as you have one working and one coming in for landing. Really nice detail on all of them. That blurred wing over the body does not detract from the capture at all.

Hi RedHawk. You are causing me a relapse of LBA!

I am not too sure i can get the shots you display here. But your shots are amazing! Love these fine CILIA in the photos with nice bokeh around the bees.

Very nice in deed!

darn amazing shots!
I have forgotten, which lens was it again?
I have a different opinion on the shot that you think looks blurry because of the wing moving..... it just adds to the photo, giving it a sense of motion.

All are great. Now I wish I could see bees around these parts

cheers

Thank you. The lens used was a Lester A. Dine 105mm Dental Macro. It is identical with the Kiron 105mm f2.8 and the Vivitar 105mm f2.5

That's what it looks like:
