My second wedding - first with K10D
Posted By: blwnhr, 10-21-2007, 04:47 AM

Shot my second ever wedding yesterday. A good friend asked me if I would bring my camera with me and help compliment the other family friend that was shooting it.

The last wedding I did I was so stressed out. This time I just let the other photog compose and take all the group shots and the like, she seemed to enjoy doing those. I just moved the bride and groom 'round to where I wanted them to snap a shot every now and then.

I shot RAW+. These samples are some slightly touched up jpeg's. I will PP the others during the week as I get time. The outside light was really difficult, very harsh. I really needed a reflector but made do anyhow. Just glad I wasn't being relied upon for all the really important shots.

All shot with my K10D, Sigma 18-125mm and the EF-500 for fill on a couple.

1/45, f4.5, ISO-800.

1/1500, f5.6, ISO-100

1/1500, f4.5, ISO-100

1/350, f4.5, ISO-100

1/350, f5.6, ISO-100

1/180, f4.5, ISO-100, fill flash, manual, 1/64th with Omni hood

1/750, f4.5, ISO-100

The groom said that he wanted this shot. Had it all in his mind, said he wanted it in B&W. I am undecided.

I still have work to do on this shot. Remove the flare and hazing at the top, but I think it works. Even better in B&W.

Nice work. The compositions and lighting are great.

Taking wedding shots are really exhausting

These are very nice. I've shot a couple of weddings as the main photog and several more as a backup/supplemental. Shooting supplemental is a lot less stress and I think I got some really good shots to complement what the main photographer captured. Again, well done.

Looks good all but the wierd lens flare on #2. I give anyone credit they are due when it comes to this work. I know being a birde and groom is stress. But you guys that make a living doing this have more I think. You mess up it is not like you can say, "hey, you free to do that again tomorrrow. Nice work.

It's hard work ... I still haven't got around to PPing the RAW images from a friend's wedding ... and I had harsh afternoon sun and awful shadows as well ... then a dark evening in a restuarant to deal with as well.

I have a handfull of decent shots ... will see how things come out in PP later on though.

Not easy either ... was a challenge for the first time ... and I only had my kit lens at the time as well ... so was constrained to using that as well.

That weird lens flare is actually a bubble that floated across the frame, hahaha. I think I'll clone that out.

PP'd the shot taken through the door tonight. I followed Benjikan's guide.

Original shot was RAW DNG converted in ACR and edited in CS2.

Here is a 100% crop of the brides face. I must say I'm pretty impressed with the sharpness. Especially considering I was using a cheap kit lens that a lot of people don't like.

Please comment, it would be appreciated.

Yep, she is sharp! And yet not tooo sharp. Nice work indeed. Are you sure you want to correct the flair thing in the last pic? It's like an arcade or something. Emotionally, that may work.
