The ocotillo cactus, the bush in focus, are not yet in bloom, hopefully they will open while we are here.

EM, Yuma is near the Mexico border, we had a spring day with temps at 88. Not a pleasant place to be during the summer though, temps near 120. thanks Bob

I was going to say "Cool shot" but it is really a hot shot. I remember driving through Yuma in the summer when the kids were small. The youngest fell into a fountain while we waited on a tire to be changed. He was the only one of us that was able to stand the heat.

What a great memory and story of the area. We had a high today of only 89, so not too bad. We are camped about a mile from the Mexico/US border and there are many border patrol agents in the area. Here is a photo of Pilot Knob, a landmark for steamboat pilots in the 1800's as they traveled up and down the Colorado River. This is now BLM land and boondockers dot this arid area and bask in the sun. There is no electric or any type of services, you just find a spot in the desert and set up camp.

Thanks Dave and Jer, wasn't that an old 60's group, for the comments.

Tess, Yuma is normally a city of about 100,000, but due to the warm weather in the winter, it grows to about 400,000. Most are snowbirds and the BLM land from Quartzsite all to the south is occupied by campers from the northern US and a lot of Canadians come down this way also.
