Howler Monkeys

Howler Monkeys are quite common in Costa Rica. We could hear them from our home base, heard them on our horse ride in LaCarolina and other places. Actually seeing them at least for us proved a little more challenging.

On the way home from Arenal - we spotted some in their 'Natural Envrioment'. We were told that before the government sheilded the power lines Monkeys were the biggest cuase of power outages and here's why.

Also the thick lines I belive is Cable so not so dangerous (however I would not try it).

Not the best shots , and anotehr occason I wish I had the Bigma - but captured none the less.

Almost looking like hey - should we jump down and take that guy ?

Taking a break from the narrow cables

Hey ! I am posing here get the frick outta my way !

Dave, these are the most difficult critters to capture for me, anyway. Their fur is so black that it just seems to suck in all the light. You did very well. The third one is my favorite.

the 3 together is a great fun shot. Did they ever come to the ground and try to approach you. What an experience to view them in the wild, thanks Bob

Thanks Susan indeed the exposure is difficult - more so adding the fact we were on one of those narrow roads and only had a few minutes.

Thanks Jer - always appreaciate you stopping by and commenting.

Thanks Bob - it was cool - we thought we were going to go the entire trip without seeing them. And while these Monkeys did not come down and interact I know there are beaches and places where the monkeys will come steal stuff from ya (like Yogi Bear and the picnic basket).

Neat shots! Love the three of them. I need to get some Squirrels on the lines, they are sure footed also. Not so much so for this young Yellow Crowned Night Heron....

Best Regards!
