Backyard Python
Lens: Pentax DA-L 55-300 Camera: Pentax K-x Photo Location: AU

This fellow turned up in my backyard shed today - a Diamond Python.

I think I will be much more careful in future when I work around the yard and in the shed.

He's a beauty. I much prefer snakes to spiders because they are bigger and you can see them first sometimes. The pattern really shows how it got its name. Thanks for being the brave one.

another wonder from the world down under, great crisp shots. After seeing what you have to put up with, ants and flies aren't that much of a bother to me anymore. thanks for the view Bob

No, thankfully pythons are supposed to display very little aggression, and this one was pretty passive.

It's the local brown snakes who are aggressive, highly venomous, and much to be feared.

This one has been in the neighbourhood for a while - I've seen it before high up in a tree branch in an adjoining property.

All the local birds hate this snake. They first alerted me to it's presence in the yard.

We have those pesky Copperhead and Rattlers around here.

Pythons are beautiful snakes.
