Laced WoodPecker
Lens: Sigma 500mm f/4.5 APO EX

Found this woody pecking a hole on the tree preparing for nesting.
It's a male bird, has been pretty hardworking working alone while the female woody is just nearby watching him.

Like any other birds, the female is usually less attractive & not so colourful compared to the male.

#7 just watch, never help.

This is a beautiful series, Ken. I'm very impressed with the sharpness of your photos and with the presentation. Did you hand-hold the lens?

No, the lens is 3.2kg heavy to be handheld.
