Fox at Discovery Park
Posted By: alan_smithee_photos, 03-22-2011, 09:37 PM

The rain has finally begun to ease up here in Seattle. Hiked down to the beach at Discovery Park with my friend Fox to grab a few snaps:

Stick to what you're doing with the first two images. They're absolutely great, both in terms of your work and the model's. The tonality, the look, and even the wardrobe scream class!

The rest are mediocre. Photochopping them as spyglass has done will NOT make them better. In fact, I suggest never, ever, ever, using such effects on any photos. Ever. As for that particular photo, and the one preceding it, I would delete them. The wide is simply awkward. Her legs look crooked and I'm not certain what she's doing. Whatever it is, she's not doing it well. As a result, by selecting it, you're not doing a good job at curating your work and demonstrating your skills as a director.

I disagree - i think all of them will improve by simply turning them into BW the same way you did with the first two.

Edit: Oh...and I meant to say good job too. Love the first image most!

Only the first shot seems to have the focus nailed. But great model and I really like both the B&W images. Well done!

#1 is indeed a clear winner.
I *really* wished #4's focus was nailed right on the model - that is a brilliant capture.
Unfortunately the manual focusing was slightly off on the others also, but would have been great otherwise.
Good work, thanks for sharing.

I love the first capture a lot! Beautiful subtle light plays well in the B/W.
