The Heron Colony
Lens: DA*300 Camera: K5 Photo Location: Shanghai ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/2000s Aperture: F5.6

K5 & DA*300 / ISO200 - 400 / F5.6 to 8 / 1/800 (nest) to 1/2000 (BIF shots). Hand-held and panned.

I've been trying to get these little b^%*%s for a while ! Now they are nesting it's much easier to get settled maybe 50m from the colony and wait for them to fly over me.

Those are all really gorgeous shots. Not the kind of Heron I ever get of course but my shots aren't that sweet either. I like them all. Well, the nesting shot is a little different and that spot of warm light is perfect.

I think you did something wrong....

BIF shots aren't supposed to be so... sharp... are they?
Very nice!

Cheers Bob ! I'm pleased to see you enjoy my posts.

Ha ha - thanks Mike. Can't take any credit - the K5 with the DA*300 are awesome, once they lock on they just don't let go !

Simply stunning. I've tried so many times to capture birds in flight. They have *never* turned out this crystal sharp and clear.

Thank you Heinrich !

Thank you for your very kind comments C.C. Perseverance and the right tools (K5 & *300 for me) were key. Many shots fired for these few !

Thanks OrenMC !
