Getting out of the tent while everyone else is still sleeping is *always* worth it.

Beautiful way to start the day on any paddling trip. Don't you just love dawn and sunrise on the water?

I'm a little addicted to the Boundary Waters, and I don't get there nearly often enough. It's one of the most perfect places I've been to.

What lake?

Nice! What lake was that? I'm originally from that area, live in Mpls now and get to the BWCA every chance I get (which is not often enough.)

Crocodile Lake. I had never heard of it until a friend planned the trip. Fantastic walleye lake. The only way into it is by a single portage off East Bearskin up the Gunflint. Entry point 66. If you get a permit for that entry then Crocodile is the only lake you can sleep on, which makes it unpopular for overnight trips.

It's a long skinny lake, and worth a day trip back into the furthest point.... lot's of narrow passages that open up into more lake, and plenty of wildlife. Saw beavers and a pine martin, and as we were portaging around a beaver damn we saw moose prints. There are several camping sites on the lake but only one really worth staying at.

I'll go back again, for sure.
