My latest photo. I've been wanting to do a bit of black and white work lately, and a challenge on another site gave me the opportunity to do a new still life!

I like it very much and the conversion is spot on.

I like the somewhat mixed? lighting. My one reservation is the light spot on the right- bottom. I find it draws the eye away from an otherwise fine image. You can either crop it where the light begins or blacken the area. Nonetheless, a fine and creative image.

That is a real good image, I like the lighting a lot but agree with JMR about the bright spot in the lower right. In any case it is a good photo.

I like it, and really like the touch of paper and able to mark a page with a grandchild's bookmark, great job on the b/w conversion and welcome. Bob

Cheers, and I very much agree! My granddad helped me develop a passion for reading when I was quite young, and reading a story from a screen never feels quite right to me, but I've been e-reading more lately as I've had to start travelling more.

I do think though that the more important thing of all is to learn, no matter what avenue we use. thanks for responding and your grandfather was a wise man. Bob

Same here. I like the fact the the photo is contemplative yet has a clear message. Clever and creative.

Thank you! I've been really hesitant to post a lot of my stuff on here, because I see a lot of amazing photos taken by other members, but this one I was just really proud of!
