Curves: State of the Arch in B&W
Camera: Panasonic LX5 Photo Location: St. Louis, MO
Posted By: Sailor, 03-28-2011, 06:44 PM

Earlier today I posted some color shots of the St. Louis Arch that I took during our visit last week. Here are some more abstract views of the structure converted to B&W. I wanted to capture the surreal - almost science fiction - feel that the thing can impose on you as you gaze upon it.

Thanks, Bob. I love trying and doing this sort of thing, even though I know it has limited appeal. Luckily, I'm also a jazz guy, so I'm used to enjoying something that most others find uninteresting .

Hey - I appreciate it, Kevin. Not everyone's cup-of-tea, but I find myself drawn to these general sorts of photos when I see exhibitions, and I like to take a whack at it myself.

Great perspective in those shots.

B&W definitely adds to the surrealism and feel.

Nice shots Jer. As simple as the Arch is it makes very dramatic photos. I have some of my own but they are over 30 years old. LOL

Thanks - I normally convert to B&W for this sort of thing.

Hey, thanks Mike. Yeah, I've got some from thirty years back (taken with an MX) - reminds me how old I'm getting .

Very futuristic. The B&W suits them very well. Really am fond of the third one.

I think the structure has its own innate power as a structure, but you have captured that essence and maintained its minimalist qualities. Nice work.
