Wild Onions
Lens: Kiron 105 2.8 Macro Camera: K5 Photo Location: Texas ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/90s Aperture: F13.5

They are blooming early this year...I have a yard full of them on the west side. The entire blooms would fit on a dime....very tiny. Even the cut stems have a distinct onion aroma, and later the tiny onion bulbs are good in salads......if you like onions. From past research, I find that there are many varieties, most having a purple bloom of some nature. Safe to eat?.......as long as they smell like an onion, they are perfectly safe, and there is no mistaking the smell of these.

I'm looking forward to shooting all the wildflowers we will have in Texas in a few weeks with the K5, it is so fun to use!

Best Regards!

Thanks all! I love to shoot Macro, but seldom do it. These are gorgeous little blooms that would go unnoticed by most as just "ugly weeds".
Best Regards!

Interesting, I had no idea onions bloomed - nice shots. Maybe we could use the title "Wild Onions" as the name for a follow up to Booker T's great tune, "Green Onions."

Rupert,

Well captured but where is the onion? The flowers are nice and I have never seen flower onion before.

Thanks for sharing.
