Farewell St. Louis
Camera: Panasonic LX5 Photo Location: St. Louis, MO
Posted By: Sailor, 03-30-2011, 06:11 AM

At the end of our brief trip to Illinois last week, we spent our last afternoon and evening in St. Louis in order to have dinner with some old friends who live there. St. Louis, which had greeted us with sunny skies and 80F temps on Wednesday, gave us this fond farewell.

Hi Jer-- This coming Friday there will be a Nor'easter in my area but the latest thinking from the weather prognosticators is that the Boston area will be mostly rain with snow in the interior.Just get me on the plane that's headed South.--charliezap

Jer,

If it's any help it snowed again this morning...just a bit and nothing like this past weekend but it was a pretty snow this past weekend!!
They say we are not done with snow yet this season....oh boy can't wait!
The saying in St. Louis is if you don't like the weather today wait a day it will be totally different and I'm guessing you might not disagree!!

Hope you enjoyed your stay...

Jer, looks like it may have snowed there. Is it true or are my eyes just filled with pollen again? It snows yellow here the first half of spring. Thank heavens for the rain the last few days, that should wash most of it off the trees.

You're heading the right direction, Capn.

Thanks, we did enjoy the trip, despite the weather. I grew up in Southern Illinois fairly near to St. Louis (Mt. Vernon), and didn't leave the area until I graduated from SIU-Carbondale to head for grad school. So I know the vagaries of the lower midwest spring, for sure.

That was snow, Susan - and you're right, it's about the same density as the green pollen that is giving cars an emerald sheen around here in coastal Texas.

I thought it was a low blow too, Bob. Regarding the roadster, I could've put up the top to keep out the snow, but the performance tires would have been murder. For much of my life, driving in this sort of stuff was routine, but I'm outta practice and that big Dodge did a lot of slippin' and slidin'.

No kidding - I'll have to admit it was a pleasure to step off the plane in Houston to some warm, muggy air.

As the saying goes around here,

No kidding - before retiring, I was in R&D my whole career but had to do a lot of travel in NA and Europe - university programs, customers, industrial research partners, lots of scientific meetings etc. Weather and occasionally the airlines (often in combination) were my great nemeses.

That's southern Illinois all over.

Not exactly - around here, beginning near the end of may, the forcast will be: hot, humid and a 30% chance of showers. Save for the occasional tropical storm, that forcast will remain more-or-less unchanged until the beginning of October.

I know what you mean Jer, I was in R&D for a number of years and weather be damned, I had to get where I needed to be.
