American Bittern
Lens: 70-200

I have only seem this bird twice in my life time. Really hard to spot and very shy. JIMBO

Excellent shots Jimbo !

Funnily enough someone else said the same thing of his shots of an American Bittern (on another forum) just this week. Wonder if it's the same one Such a poser !

It does look like its from the Heron family, great shot.

great captures jim.... i've seen these in marshy and reedy areas (when lucky to spot them)... hard to get to, almost impossible to capture .... dave m

They are really hard to spot. I thought at first it was a stick. These little guys are very shy and I have been lucky to photo them twice. JIM

Thanks Bob. As much as I love my landscape shots, I really like doing bird shots. Just don't have the lenses to properly get into it. JIM

It is part of the Heron family. Interesting seeing it move through the grasses. JIM

Well done Jimbo, tough to even spot a well camouflaged bird like that, let alone get great shots!
