Dragonfly resting on my finger
Lens: Vivitar Series 1 105mm F/2.5 Camera: Pentax K-r Photo Location: Florida
Posted By: mikerigel, 04-03-2011, 01:08 PM

Here's 2 macro shots of a dragonfly on my finger, needless to say it's pretty hard to hold your left hand steady and try shooting with the right one, specially with a 105mm macro lens! But I got a few keepers, at least.

Extremely well done and that is a massive amount of detail you captured too. Both keepers in my opinion.

Nice shot, I love the eye detail in the second one.

Too bad about your arms... I'm sure you have other attributes that make up for it...

Come on... that was funny.

Great shot! What I find intersting is how on earth did you get a dragonfly to land on your finger?!

These are terrific.
Did you have your camera ready when it landed on your finger? Guess that's a stupid question because I can't imagine that it would sit nicely waiting for you to grab the camera.

Thanks everyone. The dragonfly didn't land on my finger, but in my pool, and was stuck there. So I just offered my finger in front of him and he gladly accepted the help
I guess he was then grateful and posed for a few shots over the water, which explain the nice blue/green background.

Not only are these wonderfully sharp but you managed to get some reflections on your fingernail in the first one. Nice manicure by the way. There is no way a photograph of my finger would look that good.

lol! No manicure for me, it was just very sunny and I'm sure that would cause reflections on any fingernails.

Outstanding. I have a DFA 100 macro, I couldn't hand hold it to get shots of this terrific quality to save my life. Great job (and a steady hand).
