Young Osprey
Lens: 55-300 DA L w/Vivitar 2xMC4 Camera: K-x Photo Location: JULIE J. METZ WETLANDS BANK ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/350s Aperture: F5.8

My Exif data states the FL was 300 as the lens was maxed, however the 35mm FL is 450.

I did the "one step" PP in PSP X3. Considering the bird was all the way in the top of the tree and I was a good 40 yards from the tree I think it came out pretty good.

I used a monopod and manual focus. A task I am slowly learning.

It sounds like your actual focal length was 600mm due to the 2x TC that does not register. Any shot that comes out viewable with the da55-300 and a 2x TC is a fine shot as that is no easy combination. btw, I love Osprey shots.

Being semi new to the whole thing I thought that was kind of off. So you cant really rely on the EXIF data sometimes when it comes to TCs?

I will double check the file when I get home.

I had saw him the previous week but was not ready.. so from now on when I exit my vehicle I make sure im locked and loaded with the lens cap off and monopod connected to the camera...

Depends on the data and the TC. For example, the Pentax AF 1.7x kicks up the displayed aperture by 1.5 stops but you still have to input the focal length manually.
