i took this pic using Pentax K100D and Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 LD 1:2 Macro as the lens...

Gorgeous shot. That tamron 70-300 really shines in this kind of image imho. You sure used it well here. The detail is excellent, colors great. The composition is pleasing although I might like to see a bit more room above the longest pistil. Quite an eye pleasing image you've captured here. Good work!
