Product shot - Pentax K1000 - which PP?
Lens: Pentax K 50mm F/1.2 Camera: K-7
Posted By: yeatzee, 04-10-2011, 04:48 PM

Im trying to decide which PP process suites the subject best

#1: First the RAW converted to Jpeg with normal simple LR3 PP

#2: My normal PP to jpeg's after converting from RAW to give them a bit more punch

#3: Next we have #2 but with a spotlight esque vignetting added

#4: A new process I discovered in LR3, no editing outside of LR

#5: #4 but with the vignetting added

#6: a B&W version of #3

#7: a B&W version of #4

so which is best in your opinion?

I've narrowed it down a bit, but I'd love to see some more opinions!

Ah! A K1000! My first camera when I was 15 years old :-)

I prefer the top photo. All the others I find I am looking more at the backdrop than the camera.

I like #3. The vignetting puts the focus on the product very well. And I prefer the darker tone of #3 slightly over #5.

Pretty shots!

3 and 6 for sure, tho in all of them I wished there was a lens on the K1000

This was just a product shot for a friend, who wanted the camera plain and bare

#3 for me. The vignette draws my eye in to the camera.

#3, seriously? That vignetting is way too overbearing in my mind...

seriously. Its not meant to be normal "subtle" vignetting but more like a spot light bringing your eye straight to the camera (which in my opinion it does nicely).

To each their own and thanks for the feedback!

As a product shot I think number five is the best. It seems to depict the product condition most clearly.

I'd pick 7 for a desktop background as I like the textures and of course the subject.
