The Navigator: "We Go That Way, Grampa"
Lens: DA 15 Limited Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Hogg Plantation
Posted By: Sailor, 04-11-2011, 11:52 AM

While visiting the Hogg Plantation in West Columbia yesterday afternoon, I caught this completely unposed shot of granddaughter Claire proposing a route after studying the map in the site pamphlet. I also include a couple of other shots of some serious map study. Note the stuffed eagle; once again, I was the victim of the gift shop.

#1 is great. I'm impressed by the way you composed the sign and tree with her head in #2. Most people never get it so right :-)

I appreciate it Susan - and, yeah, Grandma is doing a good job in her struggle with entropy.

Thanks much, SpecialK. Regarding number 2: while I'm generally a humble man, I must say that to capture a shot with such perfect juxtaposition of objects - an almost celestial alignment - takes years of study, practice and a keen eye.

It's never too early to learn to use a map! These are great shots and take me back to my youth when my grandparents taught me to read a map on outings. Thanks for that, Jer!
