Wasn't intending to do any birding while visiting the monuments in DC, but I saw this one flying overhead and quickly snapped a couple shots of him and his lunch. Really liking the 18-135WR

Heck of a BIF shot with that lens! The caveman in me loves it when the Egrets and Herons just spear the fish instead of gripping it. Never seen one fly off with it like that though. Very unusual shot and you were in the right spot at the right time.

Thanks! Yeah, the 18-135 wouldn't have been my first choice.... in fact I just happen pick a DA*300 up last week which would have been perfect

The speared fish was a bonus as I didn't even notice it until after I took the shot.

Well captured on the spur of the moment. Probably just as well you didn't have the DA 15 mounted!

Good point I think I only used two lenses that afternoon and the other one was the 15.

Thanks again for the comments

I actually got two shots off as he flew overhead. The one I already posted was the second of the two shots. I didn't initially post the other one because his head was covered by his wing, but here it is anyway in case anyone wants to see.
