Thank you James, I should make a series of all the old graveyards that are hidden all over this area. Some of the graves in this cometary date to the early 1700s. I wanted to take photos of those real old ones but the ground was just too soft.

Sound like a great project. I'm sort of stymied right now for some projects but I'll leave the cemetaries to you. However, I'd be interested in taking a look.

All the best.

I don't mind taking the photographs, but I can't see me doing the stone rubbing's that I see people doing. Tomorrow I might take a ride a few miles down the road to Rockingham which is George Washington's headquarters and see if I can get some more shots in. Maybe do them in Sepia.

The whole concept is good using the tombstone to bring out the theme. B&W conversion did well for the mood.

However, the tombstones suffered a little low contrast comparing to the rest of the photo and the carvings on the stone are not that clear to see. Otherwise, it would be an even better image. I could be wrong but just my 2 cents

The writing was enhanced because it was very hard to see as the stones are very well weathered. I used Local Contrast enhancement to bring up the contrast, but that is about as good as I was able to get it. I have another photo below that the stones were so worn you can barely see the writing with the naked eye.
