As a lens aficionado, there is nothing quite like a fling with some fine glass.

The Jupiter-9(like all Russian lenses) is a unique lens in the sense that it has characteristics that make it shine in certain applications. And portrait work is exactly what this lens was designed for.

For anyone looking... don't overlook this fantastic portrait lens!
Though getting a good one can be tricky... if and when you do get one. The angels will sing every-time you mount it on your camera.

Jupiter-9, 85mm, F/2

The end...

Love them....especially the last one!
I had a Helios....I really, really like the russian glass. My only problem was it had a hard focusing ring....handholding like 5 pounds trying to focus wasnt fun. I ended up giving it up . How is the jupiter? heavy?

Very, very nice, all of them but I agree with some other posters that the first and last are superb. Thanks for posting them.

It is indeed a heavy lens to work with.
But in the studio, I don't mind as my rig is on casters anyways.
But if/when I need to brake out and handhold things, it can be a real pain.

Jupiter 9's can be very good lenses, but getting a good one can be a real challenge. I tried three before I found a decent performer, and I don't know if I'd care to try again.
