Was lucky to get this close, sometimes even had to back-up because I was too close @150mm.

Really nice clear shots, but were you standing on his foot to keep him from flying away when shooting that close? That 500 really brought it in. I especially like the last shot where its all fluffed up.

There was some water between us but yes the Grey Heron was really close. Quite comfortable on a small boat in the water.

Very nice images Eric, thanks for posting them. I can't get close enough with 500 mm to take a decent picture of a Heron and you have to back up? Maybe I should come visit your area.
