Old Time Tractor Show
Posted By: LaRee, 10-29-2007, 09:23 PM

A visit to the Harvest Fair in Vista California was a treat for me. I loved seeing all these spiffed up shined up old tractors. It also inspired me to try a little bit different post processing than I usually do.

There was even a cool blacksmith barn. I loved it in there. Being the ex-metalworker that I am. Kind of made me nostalgic.

And some cool oil burning engines.

Please browse the galleries I have of this fun filled day. Some of the images are rough. Anyone who has shot a tractor parade knows it ain't easy shooting from the stands. ;-)
But all in all I am happy with the representation of the day.
For the day in color see this gallery:

For the day in what I hope looks like old time photographs:

Please let me know what you think of the post processing. I'd love to get some feedback and suggestions welcome!

I really like the desaturated look that you have done with the first image.

I really like what you have done with the coloring in the first one. Very cool! It's too bad about the background distractions though. But I realize you couldn't do much with that. Still a nice shot.

Thank you for looking and commenting. These were processed in Lightroom. The first was using the "aged photo" preset and then adjusting contrast, levels etc. I too like the way it came out. This is the first time I've experimented with the preset options in Lightroom. I like them when combined with a bit more tweaking.
Thanks again for your comments!

My fave is the second - a lot going on, but the tones seem to bring it all together and give it a real "working man" feel.

Thanks for looking and commenting Hamid and Betsy. In hindsight I wish I would have taken more photos in the blacksmith shop.
