Hiking in the City to Escape the City
Lens: fa 50mm f/1.4 Camera: K-x Photo Location: Rainbow Mtn

Here's a few photos from a hike I took with my favorite hiking buddy. Rainbow Mountain is really only 1,100 ft at the peak, but it's right in the middle of the city. However, going up there on the trails really helps you feel like you can escape from all the noise a commotion of what's going on down below. It's fun for the kids, and for this adult...if I can call myself that , because there's plenty of rocks to climb up and jump off and small caves to explore.

We had to cut our hike a little short due to a cold snap that rolled in yesterday and we weren't quite prepared for the lower temps and chilly winds.

Make sure to stay on the trail!

He's getting a little too used to me pointing a camera at him, because now he always stops and poses. BTW, he likes to mix and match his gloves.

Eyes on the trail and moving forward.

Nice, Barry - and I've always favored the two-glove approach.

That is the preferable way to go!

Haha, he does have another pair just like them. And yes, I've given the car back to him, but he's too busy playing with his dragons and dinosaurs to really notice. Maybe I should take it out for another spin.

Barry - It's nice you've got that opportunity to "get out in the woods" w/o leaving town - not that there's anything wrong with getting out of town!
It's nice to see kids out enjoying nature, and if it happens to result in some photo ops - all the better! It'll be nice to have these shots to look back on in a few years, when you're saying "Remember when he was smaller than I was?"

Yep, that's one of the reasons I love my Pentax gear, is to capture memories of my family that we'll be able to enjoy for a long time. Thanks for the comment.
