Concert Photos
Posted By: ccallana, 10-30-2007, 09:16 AM

Went to a concert last nite - they had quite a few lighting issues, but by the main act (Steven Curtis Chapman) the lights were back on. Here are a few shots taken with my full manual Sears 135mm/2.8 @ ISO800 and 1600. All of these were RAW with a quick export to jpg in Lightroom with defaults - no other editing/tweaking. Resized with Irfanview. We were 6th row center.

Looks like you did a great job considering the lighting that is normally available during concerts. Iso 800 and 1600 and no editing? I see these are ISO 800. They sure show off how the 6mp models trump the k10d on iso performance, I stay away from ISO 800 on my k10d.

Thats great! I cant remember 3200 looking that good on my DS. You can see slight noise, but I am often more bothered by iso 800 on my k10d than I am by the noise in that shot. Really no PP at all ?

Whatever Lightroom did on its own - All I did was import into Lightroom, select the whole set, and Export full sized jpegs @ 95% or so. Then I resized down to 800 in Irfanview, using that to add the black border. Nothing else.

I'm not sure if Lightroom does any noise reduction by default or not...

I see, well I think these are very good as far as concert pictures go. Normally concert pics are either overly blurred due to slow shutter or overly noisy due to high iso. but these came out very nicely
